Overview of Property Services
The procedure for selling, purchasing, building or leasing requires the completion of the relevant application form. A copy of the application form is to be forwarded to both Presbytery and Synod.
For the Approval process:

The dollar value of the sale, purchase or building project determines whether the approval comes from Synod or Presbytery. Projects less than $1 million can be approved by Presbytery. Projects in excess of $1 million must be approved by Synod. For leases the term determines whether the approval comes from Synod or Presbytery. Leases less than 3 years can be approved by Presbytery. Leases greater than 3 years must be approved by Synod.

Where the sale, purchase, build or lease relates to Aged Care, Child Care or Education, approval must also be received from the relevant Board.

Where borrowing of funds is required the applicant must include financial and three year forward cash flow statements.

For additional loan assistance, Synod can possibly provide funding by means of a Self Help Fund, Schofield Fund, Woolnough Sites Fund, and/or a Uniting Church (NSW) Trust Association loan.

If you intend to use sales proceeds, this must be identified in the application form.

For the purchase or building of a minister’s residence, refer to the Minister's Residence Building or Buying policy. When selling, purchasing or leasinga commercial or retail property, it is recommended that a solicitor should be appointed.

A Certificate of Correctness must accompany all legal documentation which is sent in to the Property Trust for signing.

Following settlement of a property purchase, arrangement must be made with Property Services for insurance of the property.

All documents, including original certificate of title, survey, drainage diagrams, zoning certificates are to be forwarded to Property Services for safe keeping.

All monies from the sale of property must be sent to Synod, which will be retained in the name of the entity.
