Personal Accident – Voluntary Workers

THE INSURED

The Uniting Church in Australia, New South Wales Synod its Members, Churches, Trusts, Committees, Missions, Incorporated Funds, Boards, Associated Religious Groups and Schools, Colleges, Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Day Care Centers, Hostels, and parties for whom The Uniting Church now or in the future is responsible.

INTEREST INSURED

On the lives of all voluntary workers;

a. Engaged in any church welfare or other unpaid activity on behalf of the church,
b. Engaged in necessary direct travel to or from and during such voluntary work.

Provided that such work is officially under the control of the church.

PERILS INSURED

Bodily injury caused by an accident and solely and independently of any other cause except illness resulting from, or medical or surgical treatment rendered necessary by, such injury, occasions the death or disability within twelve calendar months from the date of the accident by which such injury is caused by visible, violent accidental and external means.

HIV/AIDS cover for illness only where the contraction is caused by visible, violent and external means.

MAJOR EXCLUSIONS

Consequent upon; War and associated perils, Insanity or self inflicted injuries, pregnancy or childbirth.
Consequent on engaging in or taking part in; naval, military or air force service or operation, professional sports.
Air travel, except as a passenger in any properly licensed aircraft.
Participation in Competitive Sports, Motor Cycling, and Mountaineering
Persons engaged in the Work for the Dole Scheme
Expenses classified as Health Insurance under National Health Act-Including Medical Expenses for Voluntary Workers.

DEFINITION OF INJURY

Injury means bodily injury resulting from an accident that occurs fortuitously (by chance) to the Insured Person and results in any of the Insured Events within twelve (12) calendar months from the date of the accident, but does not include any consequences of any Injury which are ordinarily described as being a disease.
