THE INSURED

The Uniting Church in Australia NSW Synod

INTEREST INSURED

To indemnify the Insured against liabilities at law for damages (and claimant’s costs) for claims made by reason of wrongful acts committed by the insured entity.

The policy indemnifies the insured for breaches or alleged breaches of employment related statutes including:

Discrimination
Harassment
Employment Termination Disputes

Other employment related issues including:

Wrongful failure to promote
Wrongful refusal to employ
Wrongful demotion

GEOGRAPHICAL LIMITS

Worldwide excluding USA & Canada

LOSS

Loss means: the total amount the entity is obliged to pay an employee by reason of a wrongful act, including damages, judgments, settlements, interest, costs and defence costs.

IMPORTANT NOTES

If a claim is made against you, or you discover any circumstances which indicate the possibility of a claim arising, you must immediately notify details to the Manager-Risk Insurance Group so that the insurers can be informed during the policy year current.

Any known circumstances which are not reported prior to the expiry of the policy will not be entitled to receive indemnity under the policy.

Claims from Aged Care, Child Care and Synod Office Boards & Agencies have approval to be handled by Uniting Care Employee Relations Service.

All other claims will be controlled by the Insurers nominated legal representatives.

Any congregation or Agency considering terminating the services of an employee should firstly seek advice and guidance from Uniting Care Employee Relations Service.
