Voluntary Workers Injuries

Immediately advise details to the Insurance Manager at the NSW Synod Office. A claim form will be forwarded and a written report is to be prepared by the committee

Should medical attention be necessary, the providers of such services must be advised that the injured person is seeking treatment as a Public Patient and the injury is not work related. The Church is NOT able to insure for these costs and the volunteer should obtain reimbursement from either Medicare or if appropriate their own private health insurance. An indication of any out of pocket expenses incurred may be forwarded to the Insurance Officer with a recommendation from the Congregation Elders Secretary in order that the Insurance Fund may consider an ex-gratia payment. Where an injured volunteer does not hold cover for Private Hospital treatment, then it is not intended that the Insurance Office will meet those as an ex-gratia reimbursement.

Please contacts the Synod Office for further advice should this situation arise.
